Dr. Ti-Wei Chen received her PhD in Music from Hong Kong Baptist University, and subsequently published her book on vocal pedagogy, entitled “Role and Efficacy of Verbal Imagery in the Teaching and Learning of Singing.” She holds a BMus (Honours) degree from Trinity College of Music, London, and a Master’s degree in Advanced Musical Studies in Performance from the University of London, Royal Holloway.

During her time in London, Ti-Wei actively performed as a member of the BBC Symphony Chorus for BBC Summer Proms and European tours. Her performances as a soloist and with orchestras and choirs have taken her to prominent venues such as Regent Hall in London, the National Concert Hall in Taipei, the Grand Theatre in Shanghai Opera House, and the City Hall in Hong Kong.

A former lecturer at Kingston University in the UK and Hong Kong Baptist University, as well as an assistant professor at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), Ti-Wei is currently a member of the editorial board for Routledge’s journal. She teaches postgraduate courses at HKU SPACE and serves as an external examiner to assist with quality assurance in music performance practice at EdUHK.

As a prolific voice teacher, music educator, and choral director, Ti-Wei has been conducting and performing with ConChord Concert Singers since 2003 (formerly known as CityU Concert Singers), Cantamus (the largest chorus at EdUHK consisting of almost 100 singers) from 2014-2018, the Six Arts Women’s Choir in affiliation with the Hong Kong Federation of Women since 2017, and the Choir of Confucian Tai Shing Ho Kwok Pui Chun College since 2019.  Alongside her academic work, Ti-Wei is passionate about public service and has just completed her presidency at the Zonta Club of Hong Kong East from 2022-2024, serving the underprivileged in the community and advocating for gender equality and empowerment for women and children.
