Dr. Raymond Khong

Raymond has been active on the Australian stage for over twenty years now. Having started back in 1993 with the Victoria State Opera and the Australian Opera. Other local companies he sung for with include Eastern Metropolitan Opera and Melbourne City Opera. With them he has performed numerous roles with his highlight was a critically acclaimed lead role in Chamber Made Opera’s world premiere of The Possessed – a role which won him a Green Room Award nomination for Best Lead Performer. Some of his roles have included Rodolfo (La Boheme), Prunier (La Rondine), Don José (Carmen), Tamino (The Magic Flute), Belmonte (Seraglio) and Ferrando (Cosi fan Tutte).

Over the years he has appeared on TV and film but his passion remains the stage, and he has freelanced with many groups touring the country for over ten years, most notably as one of Australia’s Thee Chinese Tenors. He now produces his own touring shows. Very active on the concert circuit, he was also for many years the soloist for The Australian Army Band, The Robert Stolz Society and The Victorian Concert Orchestra. He has recorded three albums to date “Voices for Hope”, “Music From the Heart” and “Voyage”. Melbourne audiences may remember him as The Doctor in the Australian Premiere of A Handmaid’s Tale Opera in 2018. In 2019 Raymond created the role of Orpheus in the world premiere of the opera-ballet Orpheus for the Midsumma Fesitva.
