Award-winning vocalist Gabrielle Stravelli has garnered critical acclaim and a loyal following through her rich sound, original compositions and her unique take on material from the new American songbook as well as classic standards. A trained actor, Gabrielle has a soulful sensitivity for the story in the lyric and was called “a powerhouse of individual expression” by The Village Voice. Recent highlights include headlining the 2019 Providencia Jazz Festival in Santiago, Chile and the 2018 WBGO Jazz on the Mountain Festival. In the last 4 years Gabrielle has toured Southeast Asia, Pakistan and Azerbaijan as a United States Department of State “Jazz Ambassador” and toured the US promoting her new albums, “Pick Up My Pieces: Gabrielle Stravelli Sings Willie Nelson” and “Dream Ago” both of which have received rave reviews from Downbeat Magazine, All About Jazz, Jazz Weekly, The Wall Street Journal, The Huffington Post and LA Jazz Scene among others.
She has been hand chosen for projects by jazz luminaries; premiering Rooms of Light, the most recent song cycle by renowned jazz pianist Fred Hersch and appearing with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra performing the complete version of Marsalis’s Abyssinian: A Gospel Celebration. Gabrielle has been featured in 92Y’s Lyrics and Lyricists Series, at the Caramoor Festival, with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, the Cincinnati Pops, the Jackson Symphony Orchestra, the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra, the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra and the Santa Rosa Symphony. She holds a BFA from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
